Opera & Dance
AN evening celebration of Jonathan Miller’s outstanding work for English National Opera is being held at the Coliseum in November.
Excerpts from his ENO productions are being featured with artists from original casts performing alongside younger singers to have benefited from “the Miller experience”. And there’s an interview with the great Camden Town director as well.
Tickets go on sale to the public next Thursday morning, starting at £20 each, along with tickets for 11 opera productions in ENO’s 2016-17 season.
Quite a chunk of Miller tickets have gone to “ENO Friends” already, so if you want to join the celebration, you’d better by quick about it next week.
Overall, Miller has directed 15 operas for ENO and these have notched up more than 1,000 performances so far.
Truly memorable productions that remain as popular as ever include his Marriage of Figaro, The Elixir of Love, The Barber of Seville and, of course, his unique take on The Mikado. His legendary “Mafia” production of Rigoletto is returning in February and The Mikado is at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool, next May.
