BRILLIANT trumpeter Darren Moore is hosting a workshop for budding young trumpeters, aged between five and 10, at the Conway Hall this Sunday afternoon. Moore leads trumpet workshops in schools in London, always with a view to being inclusive and fun. See Sunday listings

SINGERS are invited to go along to the Foundling Museum, Brunswick Squire, next Monday evening to join their friendly Community Choir at an open rehearsal in the museum’s stunning picture gallery. The choir sings music from Vivaldi to Handel, from traditional folk to modern pop – and from medieval to swing, from African to Hebrew and Spanish. See Monday listings

LOVELY, heart-warming jazz is being played at the Princess of Wales, Primrose Hill, this Sunday afternoon when tenor saxophonist Karen Sharp joins the Pete Chapman Trio. Initially inspired by the likes of Dexter Gordon and Sonny Rollins, she developed her own distinctive style during four years playing the Humphrey Lyttelton band before going on to become an A-list jazz musician. FOLK song, music and folklore are being examined in four lectures by expert speakers at the Vaughan Williams Library, Cecil Sharp House, over the next few weeks. The first lecture, next Wednesday evening, looks at the way song in the 1650s and 1680s was used to encourage excessive drinking in order to promote loyal obedience. See Wednesday listings
